Student research project

I am currently enrolled at Dominican University as an adult student. My interest is in becoming an elementary school teacher. I spend quite a bit of time at my childrens school volunteering, participating in some classroom time, some after care programs, teaching GATE.

My research project for my class centers around the lack of male teachers in elementary schools and the gender bias that males encounter and the effects on children.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome.

some stuff to check out

Hey Hows it going,
I just did a project for my diversity fair project which was on the topic of the gender gap in teaching and how it is at a 40 year low (20%). The topic right now is in the media like crazy and statistics for the numbers can be found at NEA.org. I also discussed the salaries that both average teachers make as well as the salaries that principals and vice principals make which i found at the department of labor. I tied the gap in the wages to the idea and stereotypes of men as providers and moving to higher paying jobs and administration.

This was all stuff i discussed in my project but i did not necessarily focus on elementary or secondary level but rather on what is going on now with it and stereotypes of men in the classroom.

good luck with everything and hoped that some of that stuff helps and maybe some ideas.
