Favorite Movie About Male Teachers
Michael McLeod
I have seen only half of the films on this list, but of those, "Stand and Deliver" is my pick. It's an excellent, inspirational movie for everyone, with important messages, and it's based on the experiences of real people, though the movie uses composite student characters and simplifies and compresses the development of the AP Calculus Class at Garfield High School.
Further, I value movies that let me experience another life, and since I don't speak Spanish, and I grew up in Minnesota, on the edge of farm country, the son of a computer design engineer, I gained from "Stand and Deliver" a much better understanding of Latino students, their world, and the staff at Garfield H. S. in East L. A.
