False allegation

[MenTeach: We receive letters from people and unfortunately can be common. Do you have advice?]

I have a friend of a friend who has a son (25 years old and recently married) who is a day care teacher and has been wrongly accused of something two years after the event. This supposedly happened to a 4 or 5 year old who after driving by a school she used to attend where this person worked, remembered this event.

Can you give me any advice or tell me where to go for help?

ABOUT MenTeach

Adding a few more good men to campus

by Tracy Jan - Boston Globe Staff
Men are such a rare sight on the Wheelock College campus that a visitor might believe that the tiny school, tucked among the hospitals and other small colleges in the Fenway, admits only women.

MenTeach has had millions of hits

MenTeach: A few readers have asked how much web traffic does our site have. MenTeach.org has been around since April 2002. We've had one revision of our site back starting February 2007. You'll see below that we've had over 2.4 millions hits in the last two years. The software that tracks our site traffic screens out the spambots (as best it can).

The key is that the site continues to grow in popularity.

Beginning February 2007

Public Mixed on Gender Roles in Jobs; 7% Prefer Male Elementary School Teachers

MenTeach: There is much debate about what occupations men and women should have. In a study by Pew Research a survey shows there is bias towards one gender for specific occupations.

"...the survey asked whether people are more comfortable dealing with a man or with a woman in a variety of positions of authority - doctor, banker, lawyer, police officer, airline pilot, school teacher and surgeon.

Hundreds of ties means teacher doesn't wear same one twice all school year

by Amanda Millard - Gaston Gazette
Don McAllister changes ties like some people change shoes.

Ghost ties come out in October.

December brings ties with Santa and snowmen.

"I probably have about 30 Christmas ties," he said.

McAllister didn't start out as a tie wearer.

The few, the beloved, the male elementary teachers

by Jenny Rogers - Missourian
Twenty fourth-graders sit on the edge of their seats, their wide eyes focused on the man in the center of the room.

"Can anyone read my mind?" the man asks. "What else do we need to do when we walk in the hallway?"

"Don't touch anyone!" one ponytailed girl yelled.
