3) A man who loves teaching
I once thought about teaching at the high school, but I made a decision 
a long time ago to remain at the elementary level. I love teaching,

4) Primary principals seek more real men
Many primary school principals believe male primary teachers should be 
heterosexual, rugby-playing -real men- if they want to be good role 
models, new research has found. One respondent in the study - being 
published in international journal Gender and Education - referred to 
the -limp- handshakes of two male teachers who appeared ineffectual and 
wussy when interviewing for jobs. In that case, strong females were

5) In Australia - women principals outnumber men
The glass ceiling has been well and truly smashed in schools, with 
women now outnumbering men in the top job for the first time. Of 
Victoria's 1587 government school principals, 50.9 per cent are female 
compared with only 18.3 per cent in 1991. Read the rest of the brief

6) Men helping children during disasters
John Suur has been volunteering to offer child care services after 
diasters for many years. He is an attorney who retired from working at 
the World Bank and has worked with Toddlers for many years in his 
retirement. He started his letter:

I came home at noon on Friday, August 29, to find a message that I 
should call about a possible assignment as a volunteer for Children's 
Disaster Services to provide child care for victims of Hurricane Gustav 
in Louisiana. I said yes. Two days later I flew to Alexandria, 
Louisiana, and began my adventures. Read the details:

7) American Federation of Teachers reports about male teachers
There is an interesting publication published by the American 
Federation of Teacher that focuses on male teachers. There's an 
interview of MenTeach and there are also individual stories about male

8) Quality Childcare: The Missing Element - Men
Louis Torelli is one of the best known architects/designers in the 
early childhood arena. However, not everyone knows that Louis started 
his career by working for six years as an infant, toddler and preschool 
teacher. Recently in reflecting on his twenty years of involvement in 
the field, he commented on the lack of male involvement in an article, 
"Quality Childcare: The Missing Element - Men." Read more of his story

9) Mr. Rogers firmly believed men should teach
Most readers will not recognize the name Fred Rogers. Mention Mister 
Rogers, however, and most will immediately recognize a personality who 
has probably influenced more lives than have several presidents 
combined. Mister Rogers Neighborhood is the longest-running childrens
