United States Programs for Teachers

Future Minority Male Teachers of California
F2MTC is a program (with scholarships for those that qualify) to improve the pipeline for male teachers of color throughout the California State University system so that elementary age students of color will have increased numbers of males of color serving as teachers, mentors and role models, thereby helping to close the persistent achievement gap between white students and students of color.
ManUp!
Man Up Teacher Fellowship is a non-profit organization with the mission to give students in high poverty, urban and rural communities, particularly male students of color, access to high quality male teachers and advancing policies that promote equity in K – 12 schools.
Richmond Teacher Residency (RTR) Program

RTR is a program based in the inner city of Richmond, VA. In your 1st, of four year commitment (also known as the residency year), you earn your Master’s Degree in Education (concentrations offered are Math, English, Social Studies, Science, and Special Education) from Virginia Commonwealth University.
African American Male Teacher Initiative
The university is now setting its goals on growing the number of African American males. The goal is to certify 25 African American males as classroom teachers by the year 2025. This project’s goal is to increase the number of African American male educators in the teaching field.
Teach for America
A national corps recent college graduates of all academic majors who commit two years to teach in urban and rural public schools and become leaders in the effort to expand educational opportunity.

Men Equipped to Nurture (MEN) [This program no longer exists]
The Men Equipped to Nurture (M.E.N.) Program is a specialized teacher education program at Bowie State University’s School of Education aimed at recruiting and certifying males as teachers in Maryland.

Project PRIDE
Called Project PRIDE (Planning and Rewarding Instructional Diversity in Education: Building the Future One Minority Teacher at a Time), the program will recruit, select, matriculate, graduate, and place at least 42 well-trained, highly effective teachers in high-poverty/high-minority elementary schools in Polk County.
