      Good afternoon gentlemen,
I want to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Scott Routsong, and I am a Children’s Services Librarian. For the last 7 years, I have worked in public libraries conducting all manner of story times for all ages as well as doing many outreach programs in school systems. I was honored to receive the 2005 New York Times Outstanding Librarian Award and I truly love what I do. Currently, I am the librarian at a nice private school and really enjoy working more closely with students. I plan to take on an advocacy role with regard to voicing my concerns over the lack of male teachers and librarians in the near and I am would be very happy to chat with any of you. Men Teach is a wonderful forum through which we may share ideas and I look forward to “joining the struggle” so to speak.

      Sincerely,

      Scott Routsong

      Thanks for writing Scott!

And congrats on your award – I’m sure it’s well earned.

And thanks for advocating for more male teachers. Would you be willing to write something for MenTeach – it’d be great to have your perspective.
